Retreat

OK, but now I am giving one! At the Pontifical College Josephinum, my alma mater.

I wish that you could see this place. I am so edified by the young men. Needless to say, I am having a great time.

About My Retreat

Sorry to be so slow in getting back to you about my retreat. In the first place, I didn't know what I wanted to say. In the second place, once I got back to Nashville I have been working really hard to get ready to go to the Josephinum to give a retreat next week. This means starting the semester in absentia! I am so excited about this semester, and I want it to start well!

I thought of kind of crazy images of what I experienced at Marbury. I know that I am a fanatic about The Lord of the Rings; but the monastery seemed to be to be like Lothlorien, a place powerful and protected by an ancient and deep Wisdom! The monastery was simple, quiet, and hidden -- but strong. There I was dwelling in 100% reality, like breathing pure oxygen. Now I have moved back into a more shadowy world of illusions mixed into reality.

Maybe the monastery is even more like the house of Tom Bombadil and Goldberry. It was so good. Of course, we would want to spend our hours and days singing the praises of God! What a waste of time to do anything else. And again, there was presence of a power and freedom from evil.

I realize that this is very inarticulate, but what I experienced there was so different from what the place seems. I am very grateful to God and to the good sisters for such a place. Marbury goes in my book with Norcia as a place to carry with me.
